New post...sorry it took so long
Where to begin! Apparently is has been over a month since I have updated my blog! Ooops. I guess time flies when you are having fun. I will start by telling a little about Christmas(or as they say here, Chrissy). We had such a good Christmas in Newcastle. I hardly had time to be homesick we had such a good time. I didn't have to work over Christmas either so that was great. On Christmas eve Shan and I did a little shopping, we had to have new outfits for Christmas and both of us had got some money from Santa to spoil ourselves. We were on our way home and got caught in a rainstorm...so we didn't have the best weather over Christmas but it went uphill. We got home and got ready and then went out for some Australian style X-mas eve partying. We went to the brewery with Greg...Shan's 'friend' and some of his friends and danced the night away to the band. It was so much fun. We of course, didn't take the best care of ourselves that night, so got up on Christmas morning feeling a little off! We were picked up nice and early to go to Greg's family's house and were spoiled with presents(PJs, bodywash and other smelly stuff), champagne and a great Christmas bacon and egg breakfast! It was so nice. Everyone was so good to us here, it wouldn't have been the same if we didn't have such great people around. We went to Steve's family Christmas after that. It was at his sister's house and there were about 18 of us. We even got included in the secret Santa. It was a great afternoon, so we played some frisbee, table tennis, ate lots of food and had some drinks with the fam in the evening. We got to meet Steve's nana, his uncles, aunts and cousins. We didn't get home til late and it couldn't have been a better day. On boxing day we got our sun and day at the beach. It was really different but I am glad we did it.
After Christmas be both started to wrap up work. I had a couple of shifts in between Christmas and New Year and 1 shift after and that was it for Fuel. On the 29th we went on a winery tour and tasting out in the Hunter Valley. It was so much fun. We signed up to go with a group so we were able to go to about 5 wineries and taste a lot! Lindeman's was the biggest that we went to. The Hunter Valley is beautiful. I wish we could have spent more time there.
For New Years eve we went to Sydney. Steve, being the great guy he is, took care of us once again. We spent the night with his friends and were able to watch the Sydney Harbour firework from the top of a friend's parent's rooftop balcony. We had a great view and didn't have to put up with the million or so people that swarm the harbour front on New Year's. It was so neat. They set off fireworks from at least 6 locations all in synch and we could see them all. It wasn' t like the Gala Days fireworks, thats for sure. We toasted 2007 with Champagne and of course, more drinks and it was a great night to remember.
We flew out of Newcastle on January 6th and it really was hard to say goodbye to all of our friends. We are in Melbourne now and although its a great place, we aren' t quite settled like we were in Newy. It will come though. Right now we are looking for jobs! Oh what fun. Its not quite as quick and painless as it was in Newcastle, because we are looking for temp or full-time day jobs as opposed to hospitality. We had interviews today at a call centre, and although that doesnt' sound very appealling it has its perks. We both have a good chance of getting the same job with the same hours, its all Monday to Friday and really good money. Plus we get fred gym access(and with our clothes fitting the way they do, thats a major selling point!) We find out on Tuesday if its a go for sure but it looks good and we are definitely crossing our fingers.
I will write more soon...I PROMISE. We are currently staying in a share house(with about 20 others) and it has free internet so I don't have to go to the stupid library and pay! Its already been great cause I have been able to do lots of emailing home and for jobs.
There is probably lots more to tell...I know there is actually i just have to think about it.
We are going to the Australian Open next week and a week after that to Big Day Out! Can't wait!!!
