Marcy Downunder

This site is for my friends and family to read about my adventures downunder(not to make freaky blog friends). Shannon and I are travelling Australia and some surrounding countries this fall/winter/spring. We leave October 21st! and have no idea when we are coming back. I am not known for calling and emailing peoople, so I will try to do better with postings! Hope you all find this interesting, at least at times, and entertaining always.

Whats goin' on

Hi Everyone!
Its been awhile so I should update now. I have been sparing ya'll the details of my everyday life cause I wouldn't want to read about so I don't want others to. Shannon and I have fallen into a routine. We both work quite a bit these days so when we have some time off we either just catch up, go to the beach, go out etc. Same old things I would do at home! We originally plannned on heading north up the east coast once we leave Newcastle but it looks like we have a change of plans. We are going to go down to the Melbourne area but probably make multiple stops on the way. At that time of year (Jan and Feb) there is a lot of work in Vineyards and its a fast money making sort of this. So we may do it for a month, a week, a day...who knows! There is apparently lots to see around there so we will need the cash to see it! We will hopefully get there in time to see some tennis! The Australian open goes for about 2 weeks in January and we love watching tennis. Big Day Out ( a huge music fest) apparently also has Melbourne tickets left and we would just love to go see all the bands.
So the plan while we are still here in Newy;
we have a big Christmas party tomorrow night that our roomie Paul has organised. He booked the Bar Beach Bowl-o and we are having a huge barby and celebrating the festive season. I will put on my best sundress for that. Next weekend, Shan and I both asked for some time off to go up to a place called Port McQuarie to see Festival of the sun (another music fest) and camp with our flatmate steve and his friends. Should be a good time if my boss agrees to let me have it off. Also, we are going to do a vineyard tour up in the Hunter valley. The winery region is only about a half hour away and has some really famous wineries that we want to check out...such as Lindemans. That must be why you can get Lindemans wine for $5 a bottle. Although Shannon and i have been a fan of the $8 boxes of wine...even though we always get laughed at. Wine is cheaper than Diet Coke here...just one thing about this country that is strange. One of many.
I will post shortly though, when I have done some of these exciting things and I have some interesting news.
I do have good news though, we have plently of invites over the holidays. One thing we know we are doing is going to Steve's family Seafood Beach BBQ on Christmas morning then to his sister's house for the afternoon, or arvo. Should be interesting, to say the least!
