Marcy Downunder

This site is for my friends and family to read about my adventures downunder(not to make freaky blog friends). Shannon and I are travelling Australia and some surrounding countries this fall/winter/spring. We leave October 21st! and have no idea when we are coming back. I am not known for calling and emailing peoople, so I will try to do better with postings! Hope you all find this interesting, at least at times, and entertaining always.

Yummm....roo

So yesterday when Shan and I arrived at the hostel they told us about the BBQ on the pool deck for supper. It was $4 for Kangaroo on a bun or $3 for a sausage and both came with a free beer. Obviously, with our budget, that sounded like a fantastic deal. I was planning on getting the sausage but after some convincing I decided, in true Aussie spirit, to try the roo. It was actually kinda good, more or less like beef, or deer I guess is what they say. We ended up having a couple of drinks with some guys last night and eventually headed down to the bar in the bottom floor of the hostel, called Scubar. We thought since it was the hostel bar it would be like all the others we had been to, laid back, not a whole lot of people and just a place to sit around to have some drinks. We were wrong, this place was happening and best of all, Shannon and I were both wearing jeans and hoodies and hadn't showered all day!!!! hahaha, we didn't really care though. I must say, the percentage of hotties at this bar was very very high! Not bad. Today we are walking a mapped out 'tour' of sydney to see the famous sites! Again, good for our budget...free! One of the guys last night was from 'lichtenstien' or something...a country that borders Switzerland and only has a population of about 30, 000 people. What are the odds that I would meet someone from there, but I did. I will post again when I have more to write and tell more about Fiji when I have pictures to go with it. Oh yea, the weather here in Syndey isn't too hot yet, very September in the Valley weather, so I am wearing capris and a tee shirt and am very comfortable. At night it gets pretty chilly though. The monday that we were supposed to arrive was actually the coldest to date(on that day) in 127 years!!! But the heat is coming and I must clarify, I am not complaining...although I know we would both love to go to Bondi or Manly beach. Good thing we hit the beach in Fiji!
