This site is for my friends and family to read about my adventures downunder(not to make freaky blog friends). Shannon and I are travelling Australia and some surrounding countries this fall/winter/spring. We leave October 21st! and have no idea when we are coming back. I am not known for calling and emailing peoople, so I will try to do better with postings! Hope you all find this interesting, at least at times, and entertaining always.

Bragging!

Oh how I heart Noosa. It is just phenomenal here. I can't get enough of it. Its got fabulous beaches and a really nice National Park. We extended our stay here 2 more nights, Twice! Its going to be hard to leave. Can't really say we have done much other than go to the beach and play drinking Uno! Except for the ZOO! We boarded the free bus to The Australia Zoo on Monday morning(another Labour Day) more excited than 99% of the kids on it. Our expectations were not let down either it was so great. Its a really interactive zoo, unlike any I have been to. First we went and fed elephants, then we got to hangout with roos in their enclosure, pet koalas(all this as much as we wanted) and then cuddle Koalas! I have a picture of it(of course coast extra but the money goes to animal conservation). The roo enclosure was so neat. They are so tame and you can do as much as go lay down next to them and use their bellies as pillows! One was loving a nice scratch behind the ears from me. They are so cute. And like lamb, I will not eat Kangaroo! Can you imagine buying a koala fur coat! Its horrendous, they are the most perfect animal and are now in dangered do to nasty humans. There was a really nice shrine to Steve, and it appeared that all the staff had actually known him. He must have been a great person to have running the zoo you worked at. Shannon, and all the little kids, wanted to see Bindi(haha) but we didn't. She's too famous now anyway!
Today we went to the National Park. Its rainforest and surrounded by amazing beaches...I know, shocking! I was walking down the trail today and just happened to realize that there might be koalas in there and looked up and one was just curled up in the tree! I was amazed, because they aren' t easy to spot and are solitary animals, so don't hang out together. Then we were at the beach there and four dolphins just happened to make an appearance...for a long time too. They were jumping and showing off too. Then I discovered a fantastic surf shop on the way home and bought some gifts, so some of you are going to be getting Noosa souviniers!
Right now we are planning on heading to Brisbane on Saturday, but things could change of course. Surfer's after that then on to Byron. We found out that we are going to meet up with English Michelle from Cairns in Byron Bay and we can't wait! She is possibly the funnest person we have met.
Tonight we are going to 2 for 1 Copenhagan Icecream, which might be one of the yummiest icecreams ever. We are just seeing if we can get even fatter before we leave! I have a feeling we probably can, I don't think Byron Bay and Surfer's are going to be the healthiest places we visit if you know what I mean.
Check out this weather forecast...how descriptive. Makes me laugh...but then again, a lot does.
Friday A few showers
Saturday A few showers
Sunday A shower or two
Monday Mostly fine
Tuesday Mostly fine
Wednesday Fine
Thats not too bad...the weather has said a few showers for the past few days and other than zoo day its been perfect. The temp. has been hovering around 25-27...just lovely!
Oh yea, and about the Labour day comment. Since September we have had 3 Labour Day, one in Sept. at home, one in Melbourne(Victoria)in March and one this past Monday here(Queensland). Its kinda random.
